FAQ

Have questions about our studio? Here are some frequently asked questions and answers.

  • Pilates is a method of physical conditioning created by German immigrant and fitness innovator Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. The method is based on five reigning principles: Centering, Control, Breath, Precision and Flow.

At Good Forme Pilates, we build on the essence and principles of his work by incorporating contemporary knowledge about the body to develop safe and effective programming.

  • It is recommended that Pilates is practiced at least two to three times a week for maximum results. If you are not able to commit to private sessions, small group classes recommended. We will assist in designing a program that fits your budget and schedule and will work with you to achieve your goals.

  • Yes! When performed safely and correctly, Pilates exercises are ideal for pregnant women. Pilates targets the pelvic floor muscles, aiding in proper body alignment and strengthening the deepest abdominal muscles.

We aim to empower moms-to-be by preparing the body for birth and offer individualized support for postpartum recovery.

  • No! Joseph Pilates was a boxer who began developing the Pilates method while training German police and military officers in self-defense. The recent growth in Pilates can be attributed in large part to its higher popularity in men. Pilates workouts can be tailored to enhance performance in men's sports such as golf, football, mixed martial arts and more.

  • You can expect a warm and friendly boutique Pilates experience. We use state-of-the-art Pilates equipment and approachable certified instructors.

Our programming is thoughtfully designed and catered to the clients in front of us with ample modifications and/or progressions. Class sizes are small to build community and ensure personalized attention for all.

  • We require clients who are new to reformer to start with at least one private session to become familiar with the machine and learn the foundations for safe and proper use.

We have different intro packages depending on your goals, however, the intro private session 3-pack is a great value and offers a comprehensive introduction. Clients who are new to Good Forme but have previous Pilates experience are also encouraged to take advantage of this offer.

  • Yes! If you do not have a training partner and are looking for us to set you up with one, please email us with your availability and we will do our very best to match you up with one. It will take time but not impossible!

  • Anything you feel comfortable to move in, preferably form-fitting so that we can watch your alignment. Please avoid zippered pants as they can damage our equipment.

For hygiene purposes, socks are required for all classes. For all reformer and barre classes, grip socks are required for traction. If you don't have a pair or forget yours at home, we have grip socks available for purchase.

  • We are conveniently located on the Queensway between Parklawn & Royal York (Across from Tom’s Dairy Freeze!). There is paid parking on Queensway or side street parking on Inverleigh.
